Literature is the passion that has shaped my life, and I can trace its genesis to a single day in my youth when my older brother, Rolly, gave me a copy of The Fellowship of the Ring. Robert E. Howard and H.P. Lovecraft soon joined the ranks of Tolkien, and I found myself on a path of literary exploration that has yet to reach its culmination.
The Lamb White Days is my first published novel. My next major work, Zero Time, is a time-travel story in which wanderers from the near and distant future travel back to our present day. It will soon be followed by a horror novel titled Ashes. This tale explores the lives of an underground society where modern-day werewolves and vampires seek their prey in the moonlit streets of Canmore, Alberta. I’m also working on a collection of short stories.
Perfect wisdom is silence
Vancouver Night
Dusk on the Island
and I look East to the
mainland coast.
I trace the far curve
of this little bay
that sends a thin line of earth
out into the void
between ocean and sky.
Gargantuan mountains
of a surreal landscape
tower like thunder clouds,
mass one upon the other,
mounting to the darkening
heavens
where the pale gods tremble.
Beneath these malevolent shadows,
the cold, flat sea heaves
and with each heavy
swelling of the waves . . .
the leviathan breathes.
Welcome to my new little niche on the internet. This is both an introduction and an exploration of the writing that I have created over the past decade. As with the writing of a novel, the creation of a website is a constant work in progress. My first novel, The Lamb White Days, is my focus at the moment, but in time I will add samples of other genres---short stories, poetry, one act plays, travel writing and even some children’s stories. I will also keep you informed regarding my other works in progress.
So again, welcome. Take a look and see if there’s anything
that catches your eye.
When in San Francisco, it’s always important to make a pilgrimage to the City Lights Bookstore. Then, in honour of Jack, you’ve got to have a pint at Vesuvio.
